My Work

I put pen-to-paper for non-fiction and fiction and am usually working on a short story, essay, or article.  Honestly, every time someone talks about my work, I feel a humbleness and an electric charge.  Gotta say thanks to folks for taking the time to comment on my work.

Washed in the Water: Tales from the South, my debut collection published July 2013, reflects a region historically peopled by eccentric characters and less-than-honest politics. Those slice-of-life tales chronicle a poignant and sometimes brutal time. Readers stare into the eyes of people struggling with living, doing the best they know how.

My fiction work has appeared in Voices, a mid-west regional anthology, and Echoes of the Ozarks. Cactus Country, Frontier Tales, and Rough Country feature my western tales.

Along the way, I’ve contributed to The Chronicle of the Horse, Sidelines, and the Horsemen’s Roundup where I write on foxhunting, rodeo events, and mule jumping. My book reviews have appeared in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram, motorcycle touring articles in American Iron, general interest pieces in the DoSouthNorthwest Arkansas Times, Free Weekly, Ozark Mountaineer, Flashback, the Washington County historical quarterly, and Dead Mule, an e-zine.

Southerner by birth and upbringing, I still consider sweet tea my beverage of choice.
